A range of Knauf products, supplied by our Nottingham branch, have been used in the redevelopment of Carlton Academy Secondary School in Nottinghamshire. The school was awarded a £2.6m investment to allow them to build ten new classrooms on site to house a wide variety of subjects and service a growing catchment area.
The project was designed by CPMG Architects, with Henry Brothers as the main contractor and WD Drywall installing the exterior walls.
Sub-contractors WD Drywall were tasked with finding an external sheathing board with excellent fire and moisture resistant properties. Working with Neil Draper, Area Sales Executive and the Encon Insulation and Nevill Long Nottingham branch, Knauf Windliner was specified for use as the external board.
Using Knauf Windliner board allowed for the building envelope to be sealed quickly, allowing for the internal works to start sooner than planned. Knauf Windliner offers many on-site benefits including a quick and easy cutting method, fast installation with simple fixings and are lighter when compared to traditional cement particle boards, making them easier to handle and install on site.
Several Knauf high performance plasterboards were also supplied by our Nottingham branch for the internal works, including Knauf Soundshield Plus, Knauf Performance Plus and Knauf Wallboard, together with Knauf Metal Profiles and Knauf Airless Finish. Using the high-performance boards with exceptional acoustic performance ensured a peaceful and comfortable environment for the students to work in.

The refurbishment of Carlton Academy includes the construction and fit out of a new detached teaching block with classrooms, an office and toilets, along with an additional car parking area. The school is delighted that this investment will support its catchment and its families as they see its facilities improve and grow.
