In the classroom, Chris Ridge, TICA Technical Director, provided a technical update covering industry competence, construction product competence and standards and regulations. This was followed by a series of practical exercises taught by Dan Metcalfe, TICA Workshop Lead, where the team learnt how to apply a variety of different insulation types. This included the application of mineral wool, phenolic and PIR insulation to bends and straights.
Undertaking practical training such as this allows our people to gain a deeper understanding of the products we supply and the challenges our customers may face on site allowing Encon Technical Solutions to deliver the best possible service and support.
Jamie Latton – HVAC Sales Director, Encon Technical Solutions, said: “The Encon Technical Solutions team had a great two days at TICA House. The visit provided valuable insights into different types of insulation and the current landscape of the industry. As the Distributor of Choice for thermal, acoustic, fire protection and mechanical services insulation, we strongly value continuous learning and development for our teams, enabling them to build up the competence required to properly support our customers. In addition to learning more about technical insulation, our team also had fun! Thank you to the TICA team for sharing their knowledge.”

Katie Ward – Sales Apprentice, Encon Technical Solutions Oxford, added: “The training was very useful as I could see how products worked together giving me a better understanding of how it works on site. The staff at TICA were very helpful and knowledgeable, I’m very grateful for the training and I think it’s a brilliant facility to introduce people to the industry.”
Ethan Sutcliffe – Trade Counter Sales, Encon & Nevill Long Leeds, said: “The training was very insightful and a taster of what our customers do daily. It’s one thing having the technical knowledge, doing it is completely different! It was also interesting learning about just how much heat and energy can be lost if part of the pipework isn’t insulated or insulated properly. You would expect a loss with gaps in the insulation, but you wouldn’t imagine what it amounts to if that pipe is run continuously at a high heat!”
