Armacell’s vision has always been to create innovative, technical insulation solutions and components to conserve energy and make a difference around the world. With aerogel that vision is now a reality.
As the name suggests, aerogel is a solid derived from gel in which the liquid component of the gel has been replaced with air making it dry and porous. In fact, over 90% of the volume is empty space making aerogel the world’s lightest solid material. It’s also 1,000 times less dense than glass, making it the world’s lowest density solid material.
Launched in 2018, ArmaGel HT opens up new application opportunities and end markets, in particular as a reliable and safe solution for operating temperatures from -180°C to +620°C. With its exceptionally low thermal conductivity, ArmaGel HT is one of the best performing insulation materials available today, offering equal thermal performance at a fraction of the thickness – up to 80 percent thinner than competing insulation products. It is compliant to the ASTM C1728 standard for flexible aerogel insulation (type 3, grade 1A) and is offered in 5, 10, 15 and 20 mm thicknesses.
ArmaGel HT is ultra-thin and ultra-light, environmentally safe, C1728 compliant and is suitable for elevated temperature applications on all types and configurations of steel equipment.
