Celebrating a Decade of Partnership with The Encon Arrows Basketball Club

We are pleased to celebrate 10 years of partnership with the Encon Arrows, a social basketball club in the North Derbyshire and Sheffield area.

Our partnership helps to support young people, including people from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing them with an environment to make friends and get active.

Last season saw success for The Arrows, from Minis and Juniors all the way through to Senior teams. Highlights include the Under 16 Girls who achieved a well-deserved 6th place in the Club’s first year in the Premier Division. The Club is now in a position to field two Under 18 Girls teams in 2025-26, a great achievement in an age-group where national participation is on the decline.

The Under 16 Boys team also had a very successful season, finishing joint top of the league with a record of 19 victories to three losses. Many of the players will be able to compete at the age group again next season, hoping for another exciting year ahead.

Pete Kelly, Volunteer Director at the Derbyshire Arrows comments: “There has been so much to celebrate both on and off the court, with basketball the second highest sport for participation in the country. We offer opportunities for boys and girls aged four through to adults to play our sport, competing in multiple age groups, all carrying the Club’s family ethos.

“There are plans for even more progression in our tenth year of partnership with Encon, often changing the lives of young people through the power of sport. Additional coaching needs have been identified, supported by the Encon Arrows Mentoring Scheme which empowers coaches to work with young people.”

Congratulations to the Arrows for an amazing season, we can’t wait to see what 2025-26 has in store!
