    19th October 2018

Over 300 suppliers, customers, installers and distributors from across the Insulation industry gathered on the 5th October 2018 at the spectacular Kia Oval Cricket Ground in London for the Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA) Annual Awards Lunch to celebrate the Apprentice of the Year awards, recognising and rewarding the hard work of thermal insulation trainees.

Encon were delighted to be the headline sponsor for the TICA Awards Lunch and sponsors of the Level 2 Apprentice of the Year Award. The event was hosted by TICA Chief Executive, Marion Marsland who emphasised the importance of nurturing and encouraging apprentices in order to help close the skills gap and provide a sustainable, fully trained and knowledgeable workforce for the future.

TICA’s annual awards lunch involved pre-lunch drinks on the Corinthian roof terrace, overlooking the iconic grounds and London city skyline, followed by the luncheon being served in the England suite. This year’s guest speaker at the Awards Ceremony was Clarke Carlisle, ex-professional footballer who spoke about his battle with depression in respect of TICA’s annual chosen charity, Mind.

Level 2 Apprentice of the Year 2018 was awarded to Adam Brophy of Brand Energy and this award was presented by Bob Cordall – Industrial Development Director.

The Level 2 Apprentice of the Year finalists were Robert Bowers representing LSM Multiservices, Reece Riley representing Wood Group, Christopher Bell representing Severn Insulation, Luke Tate representing Cape Industrial Services, Jonathan Lewis and Rhys Davies representing Severn Insulation and William Havelock representing E&P Insulations.

The event gave the opportunity to recognise the work of Jim Soady of CGB Humbertherm who was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award, for his involvement in making a visible difference in the industry and his engagement with TICA during his career to date.

Reflecting on the event, Ian Wells – National Sales Director for Technical Solutions said: “We support the valuable work of TICA and were delighted to once again sponsor this year’s Apprentice of the Year Award. We feel it’s particularly important to recognise bright new talent coming through and lend our support to making sure this year’s crop of apprentices have the brightest future possible – Congratulations to all the finalists.”
