BCoT educates future generations with brand new Construction Wing

    3rd October 2016

Fareham Branch's Business Unit Manager Sarah Harris was delighted to attend the official opening of the brand new Construction block at the Basingstoke College of Technology.

Representing Nevill Long Fareham, who have recently become heavily involved in supporting the college, Sarah joined the Mayor of Basingstoke, Cllr Jane Frankum, alongside parents, teachers and press.

The new facility is set to play an important part in bridging the construction skills gap, allowing the college to offer various full time Interior Systems courses for students keen to develop a career in this industry.

The space hosts a couple of workshops, one of which caters solely for Interior Systems and has resulted in increased enrolment for apprentices and full time students this academic year. The department has also been able to add fitted interiors to their portfolio of courses, attracting an additional 60 students.

Gareth Yeomans, faculty head for construction commented ‘It’s great to have a facility like this with the support from an organisation like Nevill Long. The new build is one part of the exciting times which we are having within the Construction department and we will continue to go from strength to strength.’

Nevill Long began supporting the college earlier this year, equipping the Interior Systems course with suitable materials and clothing and later sponsored one of the outstanding achievement awards, recognising and rewarding students’ commitment and innovation.
