We were delighted to supply Knauf’s Windliner system to the replacement 420 pupil primary school, St Joseph’s in Bishop’s Stortford. The new school is being built by main contractor, Kier on the existing 4.45-acre campus after the original 1960s classrooms and school buildings were demolished.
The school renovation allows space for a new external soft and hard play area, a coach drop-off point and a re-modelled car park with an extra 20 spaces for teachers and parents.
Sub-contractors, Eden Façades required an external sheathing board offering a reaction to fire classification A2-s1, d0 for the project. Based on the performance criteria, Dan George, Area Sales Executive at Encon Insulation, worked with Eden Façades to source a suitable solution which was available and cost effective.

Knauf Windliner Sheathing Boards were supplied to the project by Encon Insulation’s East London branch. Offering a BBA certification and no requirement for a breathable membrane, the Knauf Windliner sheathing boards can be left uncovered on the façade for up to 6 months and can be used alongside Knauf’s Windliner Tape and Windliner Screws as a full system.

The new school is being funded by a Priority School Building Programme Phase 2 (PSBP2) grant from the Department for Education (DfE) which finances "major rebuilding and refurbishment projects in those schools and sixth form colleges in the very worst condition" and is due to be completed in Summer 2020.
