Encon donates to Charities of Choice

    1st November 2016

The Encon Insulation Merchant and marketing teams took part at The Build Show as part of UK Construction week only recently. Along with helpful advice and product information, a free prize draw was on offer to win £250 for visitor’s  ‘Charity of Choice’.

The special competition ran across the whole event with a winner picked on each of the three days. Delighted to see so much participation from everyone who visited our stand to discover why Encon is the Distributor of Choice, we contacted our three lucky winners to find out their reasons for nominating their particular charities.

Maurice Tyler from the Timber Buying Group, the industry’s first category focused purchasing initiative for timber and allied products, selected Great Ormond Street Hospital, acknowledging them for saving his life.  In 2013, whilst travelling to his first TBG meeting from Milton Keynes, he suffered a cardiac arrest. Fortunately an anaesthetist from Great Ormond Street Hospital was also travelling that day and stepped in to save Maurice, keeping his blood pumping for around 17 and a half minutes until the ambulance arrived. Forever grateful to the anaesthetist, Maurice demonstrates his heartfelt thanks through his donation to the children’s charity.

Tony Powell, owner of Universal Plastics Ltd, a midlands based stockist of roofline and insulation materials, chose to donate to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Keen to recognise and support a local charity, the company is actively involved and has visited the hospital many times to see the amazing work they carry out every day. In addition to his winning donation, Tony has also pledged to add another £50, to make the gift up to £300.

Joanna Batten, assistant buyer at Henry Boot Construction Limited, an award winning construction company with 130 years of expertise, nominated Battersea Dogs Home, in honour of her Grandmother who passed away earlier this year and who always supported the charity by adopting her family pets from the rescue centre.

A big thank you to all of our visitors across the Build Show event and to everyone who entered our prize draw. We’re delighted to provide donations to your chosen charities.
