PFC Corofil Pipe and Cable Management

    16th August 2012

Now you can add or replace cables without needing to replace the fire stopping.

PFC Corofil have developed a system which allows the contractor to either add or replace cables easily, quickly and without the need to replace or repair the existing fire stopping. The system also means buildings can be fire stopped during initial construction, allowing services to be added at any time during the project. This alleviates the risk of fire spread during construction.

Fire stopping in partitions is made quicker and easier by the fact that the aperture does not need to be ‘framed out’ prior to installation. This framing out is essential with traditional Batt and Mastic fire stopping causing added costs. The transit is manufactured from high quality stainless steel, lined with a pressure forming intumescent that swells to seal the opening in a fire. There is a smoke seal fitted that forms a cold smoke seal around the penetrating cables and cable tray.

The simple push/click access of the transit allows it to be opened and closed easily giving access to add or remove cables or to retro-fit the whole device. If the whole device needs to be opened regularly, for example to allow cables with large connectors to be fed to control equipment, the transit can be fitted with an outer casing that is fitted to the substrate and the whole device slides in and out easily.

The transit is available as a tube or as a rectangle in a number of sizes and can also be manufactured to customer’s requirements. Another innovative idea for fire stopping pipes. PFC Corofil also markets a simple device for fire stopping plastic and metal pipes as PFC Metal Fire Sleeve. Again it uses the simple push/click access allowing the device to be retro-fitted to all pipes.

The sleeve allows pipes to expand and contract in any direction so is ideal for use on steam as well as normal water and soil pipes. As with the cable transit fire stopping in partitions is made quicker and easier by the fact that the aperture does not need to be ‘framed out’ prior to installation.

The sleeve is manufactured from high quality stainless steel, lined with a pressure forming intumescent that swells to seal the opening in a fire.
